Infant Immunization Program

We are proud of offer infant immunizations to all patients of the KDFHT. The Infant immunizations schedule begins at 2 months of age and continues until 18 months. This schedule can be obtained by going to www.publichealth.gc.ca/immunization. Vaccines on the publicly funded immunizations schedule are free to your infant.

When inquiring about booking an appointment for your infant’s immunizations, please call the KDFHT to speak to a nurse. If you already have a well baby visit booked at the same intervals as the vaccine schedule, immunizations can be done the same day before your appointment with your provider.

The publicly funded vaccine schedule protects your infant against 13 vaccine-preventable diseases (Public Health Agency of Canada). Vaccines allow your infants immune system to produce antibodies to fight off diseases later on.

The vaccine preventable diseases include the following 13 diseases:

  1. Diphtheria
  2. Tetanus
  3. Pertussis
  4. Polio
  5. Haemophilus influenzae type b
  6. Measles
  7. Mumps
  8. Rubella
  9. Varicella
  10. Hepatitis B
  11. Pneumococcal disease
  12. Meningococcal disease
  13. Influenza
